NO-IP.COM ADDS ALTERNATE-PORT SMTP TO ITS MAIL SERVICE LINEUP
Las Vegas, NV, August 27, 2003 — No-IP.com today launches Alternate-Port SMTP mail service.
Internet service providers are making their networks more and more restrictive in order to reduce the amount of unsolicited email that travels through their networks. In response to this No-IP.com is offering a new service which allows its customers to send email through No-IP’s mail servers on a non-standard port, getting around ISPs who block their users from sending email through a third party server on port 25.
“There are legitimate reasons for a home user to send email from their own server. Not everyone is a spammer. And we have taken precautions to avoid abuse of our new service.” explained Joel Rasmus, Chief Operating Officer
“We get hundreds of support requests asking how come I can’t send email from my server, now instead of telling them to find a new ISP, we can help them out” said Adam LaForge, Manager of Technical Support
No-IP.com’s Alternate-Port SMTP service compliments its other mail offerings, particularly the popular Mail Reflector service. The combination of Mail Reflector and Alternate-port SMTP allow a home user to still run a complete mail server regardless of the restriction imposed by their ISP.
