Autumn is here! Today marks the first day of fall and while the temperature doesn’t seem to show it the tech releases do. The fall and winter months are HUGE for tech, as many companies put out their newest gadgets, just in time for Christmas. We all know that we can look forward to Apple releasing a new iPhone every year in September (Get it this Friday at an Apple store near you). But what else can you expect to see this season? Find out below!
Motorola Moto X Pure Edition
This month we will see the release of Motorola’s latest Android phone. The Pure Edition, or Style can be used on any US carrier. It comes with a 5.7 inch screen that is water repellant, not resistant so lets not drop it in a pool. It includes a Snapdragon 808 processor, a 21 megapixel camera and up to 128 GB of storage. It is an unlocked phone, meaning you don’t have to buy it from your carrier and the cost starts at $400. You can build your own Moto X with cool features like real wood or even leather. Samsung Gear S2
The newest smartwatch from Samsung isn’t Android based. I repeat, this is not an Android watch. Instead it will use their own OS Tizen. The new watch includes a step tracker and built in heart rate monitor for the fitness centric. It also comes with Samsung Pay for contactless payments and is said to last up to three days on a single charge. You can purchase the watch in two styles, the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic. It is slated to be released in October and pricing has yet to be determined. Learn about its many other features here.
Alienware X51
For serious gamers the new Alienware X51 offers full-powered gaming capabilities in a small desktop that is easy to use and transport. It offers a Skylake CPU and a faster DDr4 rated ram. Additionally it comes with optional liquid cooling, to decrease the risk of damage to the unit. Sold separately is a Dell graphics card that gives the computer even more gaming power. The system was priced at $1049 but is currently being sold for $899. The X51 was just released and you can order the computer online here.
Neato Botvac Connected
Say goodbye to the Roomba and hello the the Botvac. This vacuum is the perfect addition to your smart home. Connected offers high powered cleaning that connects to your smart phone and allows for anytime/anywhere vacuuming. You can set up a regular schedule, start or stop the vacuum and get notifications on the robot’s progress. You can also choose where the robot vacuums right from the app. It uses laser mapping technology to make sure it cleans the floor in the most efficient way and has two cleaning modes. When it is done the robot goes back to its charging station on its own. Connected is expected to be released in the next few months and pricing is yet to be determined. You can learn more about Connected here.
