On Monday, October 26th, local tech company No-IP will be hosting the Wisdom as a Service World Tour. The talk will begin at 6 pm and will take place at the No-IP office. The talk is free to all who wish to participate.
Wisdom as a Service has been a keynote at PHP UK London, PHP Day in Verona Italy, PHP Tek in Chicago, Peers Comp in Philadelphia and many more. We are honored to bring this event to the Reno-Tahoe area and hope you can join us.
What is the Wisdom as a Service World Tour?
Wisdom as a Service is defined on its website as, “A spirited initiative to engage 35+ User Groups representing over 2000 PHP developers around the world in a conversation about Community, Software Craftsmanship, Personal Growth and Professional Development.”
The Keynote Speaker of the Wisdom as a Service Tour will be Yitzchok Willroth. Willroth is a Talmudic scholar and independent web application engineer, consultant and coach living in Lakewood, New Jersey. A start-up veteran, dev bootcamp instructor and frequent conference speaker, Willroth is the founder and organizer of the ShorePHP User Group, a co-organizer of the NYPHP User Group and an active participant in the PHP Mentoring Initiative.
You can see his open-source contributions on Github and follow him on Twitter; you may find him frequently in FreenodeIRC:#coderabbi.
Willroth says the name of the tour came from a Twitter exchange and a play on “Software as a Service” and the “Wisdom of Sages”, upon which he says that talk draws.
The topic of the keynote will be, “Talmudic Maxims to Maximize Your Growth as a Developer” and will discuss actionable advice, strategies and tactics that developers can use to help them grow in their field. Willroth thinks everyone can take away something from the talk regardless of their level of development or job description.
“Attendees will leave with numerous strategies and tactics, (as well as) actionable items which they can begin implementing immediately to accelerate their growth as software developers,” Willroth said.
