EA Games Site Hacked – Phishing for Apple IDs

A recent vulnerability on the EA Games website that was discovered by the internet security firm Netcraft, has left many users in shock.

It was recently revealed that there was a link on the ea.com domain to a fake Apple website (that looked very real and convincing) that was being used to phish for unsuspecting users Apple IDs.

After users entered their Apple IDs, they were then prompted to update personal information; including their full name, address and credit card on file. After submitting the form, the page even redirected back to the real Apple site, further confusing and hiding the phishing scheme from users.

It is unclear how long the phishing site was active on the EA Games site.

What should you do if you think you have fallen victim to this scam?
Head over to the real Apple website and reset your password. Check out this article for tips for choosing a strong, safe password. Also, if you entered your credit card information I would immediately call your credit card company to cancel your card and request a new one. They will also be able to put a flag on your account to monitor for any fraudulent activity.
