This past weekend, No-IP sponsored a lunch for the World’s Biggest Little Hackathon, Hack4Reno event. According to the Hack4Reno website, the event, “Is a weekend hackathon event for building apps that create a more informed and engaged community in the city of Reno.” The event took place over two days and was hosted at the Reno Collective (a coworking and meeting space).  There were approximately 50 participants.

Last year, the participants built many innovative apps, including an app named, RenoTracks. According to Ann Kuhn, Chief Space Officer of the Reno Collective, the app is used by over 100 people in the Reno area. The app was built for the Nevada Bicycle Coalition, “to develop a reliable and accurate method of collecting cycling data from Reno bicyclists.” The data collected by the app will be used to help the city of Reno plan future improvements to the bicycle infrastructure.

The extra food was donated to the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission soup kitchen, which prepares over 1,000 hot meals each day for Reno’s homeless community.
