Im not sure about you, but I use Google Reader a lot. Back in March, Google announced that Google Reader will be discontinued on July 1, 2013. Although it seems to have a large user base, it isn’t large enough for Google to keep developing and supporting it.
Here’s the official statement from Google’s blog:
We launched Google Reader in 2005 in an effort to make it easy for people to discover and keep tabs on their favorite websites. While the product has a loyal following, over the years usage has declined. So, on July 1, 2013, we will retire Google Reader. Users and developers interested in RSS alternatives can export their data, including their subscriptions, with Google Takeout over the course of the next four months.

Unfortunately the other alternatives are not as good. They dont have for example a search box that allows us to search for some specific news. They are slower and some that have good features like greader had require subscription. I wish google regrets this decision and brings greader back.
I now use feedly, and I like it.
I use feedly. Cool service. On android I use Press (with feedly sync).
Free and I have all functional that need for me.
Volvo had a similar problem with its car division.
They sold it to Ford, then Ford sold it again, and now it’s on its own.
But Google can’t sell its products, it can only kill them.
Adam Smith would be so mad at them.
I’ve been a pretty dedicated Google Reader user since it was introduced just because it was a nice central location for me to find all of my feeds since I used multiple computers throughout the day. It was definitely a good tool but people aren’t using RRS as much anymore with the coming of major social media and how easy they are to access and bring more relevant information from a larger group.
